Located in a cosy corner, the Press Lounge is the Next Tex content creation HQ where Sourcebook and FashNerd.com – one of the fastest growing digital magazines about fashion technology – will deep dive into future topics with Next Tex and Keyhouse exhibitors and speakers. Visitors are invited to sit in on these interview sessions to meet the experts and ask further questions. A full schedule of Press Lounge activities will be available on-site and on the information screen at the front of the Next Tex exhibition space. The lounge may also be used for press appointments with the Next Tex exhibitors, please arrange these in advance with our Events Manager (details below).

New Materials and Approaches for the Future of Fashion by Aniela Hoitink, Founder of NEFFA
After completing a degree in Fashion Design at the Utrecht School of Arts (1999), Aniela Hoitink went on to work for various fashion companies before launching the NEFFA textiles innovations lab in 2004. Here she created MycoTex – a 100% biodegradable material made from mushroom mycelium – as an alternative response to fast, disposable fashion.
Smart Clothes and the Digitalization of the Household Laundry Care Process by Prof. Monika Fuchs, Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin
The smart home sector will grow rapidly in the next few years and we can expect sophisticated, automated laundry care to lead the domestic revolution. Since 2006, Monika Fuchs has been a professor of clothing technology, and in her talk she will focus on how smart clothes will enable the digitalisation of the household laundry care process, which is set to dramatically reduce the workload for the consumer and save on resources.
A Versatile Opportunity for E-Textiles by Melanie Hoerr, Manager of Technical Embroidery Applications at ZSK
Melanie Hoerr is a technical embroidery and smart/medical textiles expert, having studied and worked at the Textile Institute (ITA) of RWTH Aachen University before becoming the Manager of Technical Embroidery applications at ZSK in 2016. For her presentation, she will provide an overview of technical embroidery techniques and their possible applications, as well as introducing the beautiful and functional embroidery work of designer Jacky Puzey.
Supporting Creative Minds to Develop Innovative Products: An Introduction to the WORTH Partnership Project by Korinna Molla, International Projects Technician of WORTH / AITEX
The WORTH Partnership Project creates and supports transnational collaborations between fashion designers, creatives, SMEs and tech firms looking to develop innovative products or processes. Successful applicants – which has included NEFFA – can receive up to €10,000 for each project and receive coaching and advice on everything from materials sourcing to product market positioning and branding.

“How can Future Technologies embrace Sustainability?”
Moderated by sustainable fashion and textiles guru Max Gilgenmann, Lina Pfeifer: regional representative for Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Aniela Hoitink of NEFFA, operations manager of Expert Fibres Martin Thorkildsen, and Sourcebook’s very own CEO Marte Hentschel, discuss how to sustainably embrace new technologies so that traditional manufacturers can smoothly transition to Industry 4.0.
