Techtextil and Texprocess 2017 – Recap and Highlights
A textile trade fair duo is looking into the future: With 1789 exhibitors and 47.500 visitors from more than 114 countries this year's Techtextil and Texprocess fair has been once again a forerunner as one of the world's largest platforms for technical textiles and new processing technologies. International market leaders and young start-up entrepreneurs from industry and research came together to discuss the latest technological advances in the technical textile and textile processing industry.
The technologies and products exhibited at Techtextil and the neighboring Texprocess covered various areas from the automotive and aerospace industries as well as in medicine, architecture and fashion. Most trade visitors wished to gain new insights into major market trends and innovative products, besides making new business and maintaining their community contacts.
Special events such as "Living in Space", "Texprocess Forum" and "Digital Textile Microfactory" as well as the "Innovative Apparel Show" offered the international visitors versatile and unique insights and experiences: From warming or cooling clothing with integrated LEDs to smart knit wear or work jackets with fire-resistant fibers for example.
In cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the "Living in Space" exhibition forum issued the future-oriented application of technical textiles using the example of space travel.
"High-tech materials based on fibres are essential in space travel when it comes to reducing the weight of space capsules. Every additional gram increases costs. Furthermore, textiles also save lives.” Dr. Reinhold Ewald, ESA astronaut and professor for astronautics and space stations
Exciting insights into the production and development of clothing received visitors in the "Digital Textile Microfactory". The textile workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the German institutes for textile and fiber research, showed here from design and digital printing to automatic cutting the most important steps of the production process of a garment.
This year's Techtextil and Texprocess fair recognized the opportunities of Industry 4.0 and the digitization of the market for companies and consumers. It once again proved that the textile industry is one of the most dynamic and future-oriented industries at all. The next Techtextil and Texprocess fair will take place from 14th to 17th of May 2019 in Frankfurt a.M. again.
