The technologies and products exhibited at Techtextil and the neighboring Texprocess covered various areas from the automotive and aerospace industries as well as in medicine, architecture and fashion. Most trade visitors wished to gain new insights into major market trends and innovative products, besides making new business and maintaining their community contacts.

Special events such as "Living in Space", "Texprocess Forum" and "Digital Textile Microfactory" as well as the "Innovative Apparel Show" offered the international visitors versatile and unique insights and experiences: From warming or cooling clothing with integrated LEDs to smart knit wear or work jackets with fire-resistant fibers for example.

In cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the "Living in Space" exhibition forum issued the future-oriented application of technical textiles using the example of space travel.

"High-tech materials based on fibres are essential in space travel when it comes to reducing the weight of space capsules. Every additional gram increases costs. Furthermore, textiles also save lives.” Dr. Reinhold Ewald, ESA astronaut and professor for astronautics and space stations
