Berlin Fashion Week has shown that it will have a glorious future even without Mercedes Benz sponsoring – a strong sustainable fashion-, fashion tech-scene and great design will distinguish Berlin from other fashion metropolises more and more.

Germany’s Minister of Economic Affairs Brigitte Zypries at Premium Exhibitions

The Berlin Fashion Week finally started on Tuesday with a reception hosted by The German Fashion Council  and Germany’s Minister of Economic Affairs Brigitte Zypries at Premium Exhibitions. Sourcebook CEO and mentor for the sustainable fashion mentorship, Marte Hentschel, dropped by to support the mentees Benu Berlin and Philomena Zanetti.

Fashion Tech Exhibition at Kühlhaus Berlin

The PREMIUM exhibition this year appeared, as the ever evolving platform for international brands it is, with its conference and exhibition FashionTech – showcasing state of the art innovation in fashion technology, wearables and smart textiles with a glimpse into the future of retail.

On Tuesday we attended the FASH – European Fashion Award 2017 at the Bode Museum, organized by SDBI – the foundation of the German Garment Industry. They award talented fashion newcomers, out of whom one of the most memorable ones was the winning collection by Sonja Litichevskaya (Esmod Berlin).

Among the highlights were the Retail-Showcase "JUST!", The Fab Talk "The Future of Fashion Retail" and finally the catwalk shows with a moody backdrop and an enthusiastic audience.

One of the season’s highlights was Der Berliner Salon and Vogue Salon at Kronprinzenpalais with a great choice of Berlin based emerging and established fashion brands like Nobi Talai, Brachmann, William Fan, Michael Sontag, Marina Hoermannseder and Hien Le – just to name a few.
